A Taxi isn't the only option to get to Manhattan from JFK Airport Taxis into the Manhattan take anywhere from 30-60 minutes. They cost $45 "Flat Fare" to Manhattan NOT including bridge tolls and tip. The meter will not be turned on and the night surcharge will not be added. Taxis are cash only. If passengers request multiple stops, the flat rate of $45.00 will be collected at the first stop in either Manhattan or John F. Kennedy Airport, and the meter will be turned on for the remainder of the trip. The metered fare should be collected at the last stop, from the last passenger. Make sure to hail a cab in the designated areas or ask a uniformed airport employee to help you. Taxis are available at every terminal and there is a taxi stand where you will be directed to a taxi. Generally, it's polite to tip at least a dollar per bag if the taxi driver assists you. Tipping is customary for good service (15 - 20%). Taxis are available outside of every terminal and there is typically a taxi stand where you will be directed to a taxi. There is no additional charge for luggage and rates are based per car, not per passenger (up to four passengers). For destinations outside of Manhattan, consult the TLC Fare Guide.
To return to JFK from Manhattan, taxis will charge you the metered rate, plus any applicable tolls.
$2.50 upon entry
$0.40 for each additional unit
Unit fare:
- 1/5 of a mile, when the taxi is traveling at more than 6 miles/hour

The taximeter will combine fractional measures of distance and time in accruing a unit of fare. Any combination of distance or time shall be computed by the taximeter.
The fare shall include pre-assessment of the unit currently being accrued; the amount due may therefore include a full unit charge for a final, fractional unit.

The trip by taxi from New York's JFK Airport to LaGuardia Airport is about 20 minutes if no traffic, but with traffic it can be up to an hour or more...really depends on time of day and luck...I would plan for an hour and a half to be safe if you have flight contingencies
